Wherever you may go in your travels, you are sure to find plenty of landscapes and gardens that are a delight for body, mind and spirit. You cannot help but be in awe when you think that a common and far from extraordinary site can be developed into something so spectacular. One such work of art is the Suzhou Garden in China. This particular garden is a wonderful show of harmony displayed in a classical fashion, that is so representative of the Chinese people. Regardless of its limited space, its charm is inimitable. Chinese gardening techniques are on the whole inspired from various arts like painting, sculpture, etc. Due to these, gardens now possess historical, as well as tourism greatness.
Chinese ethical background and values are displayed in a blend of aesthetic features that abound in this particular garden. It has brought many visitors to the land from all over the globe and till this day, continues to uplift the spirits of visitors. Features specific to different Chinese dynasties, like the Song and the Ming, for example, are exhibited by architectural pieces in all four areas of the Suzhou Garden. You will see flowers, hills, terraces, halls, towers, waters, and trees which all contribute and act as elements of a beautiful landscape.
Another famous place is the Buscot Park. You can see an 18th century classical house that is surrounded by beautiful landscapes and eye-catching gardening style. The water garden adorned with classical bridges and canals is a more recent addition and one of the most relaxing spots on the property. There is actually more than just one garden in the Buscot grounds. Some of those gardens were built as early as the mansion itself. They were fashioned in the English style and the major element in the setting was the 20-acre lake. To further enhance the park’s overall look, a classical looking bridge was added unto the far end of it; this served as the area’s focal point.
As previously mentioned, England’s water gardens also capture the hearts of many tourists. Its sloping lawn which is just below the famous home was all created by Harold Peto. This renowned 19th century architect and garden designer was vastly influenced by the Italian Renaissance in all his landscaping projects. Joint terraces, small canals and footbridges were among his most prominent landscaping features. Adjacent to these small canals you will find garden rooms separated by hedges that are constantly trimmed.
The harmony and peacefulness of these gardens are sure to leave their mark on you the moment you reach Buscot Park. You might think that the said canals show of formal scenery, but with all the green surrounding the area; it is just perfect to the eye. Ornaments are also something special in this garden and you can see them just about everywhere. It is generally thought that a great contribution in making this gardening style unique was the rich use of colorful flowers and hedges.
